Burgers

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2-3 mushrooms, minced
  • ½ red onion, minced
  • garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup shredded cheese
  • ½ Tbsp. hamburger seasoning
  • ¼ cup panko or Italian bread crumbs
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg

In a large bowl add ground beef, mushrooms, onion, garlic, cheese, seasoning, panko, and salt and pepper.

Gently mix everything together.

Add the egg, and mix more thoroughly. If the mixture is still crumbly, add another egg. Take care not to over-work the ground beef as it will make the burgers tough.

Using a round lid or plate, gently press the ground beef mixture into 5 to 6 inch patties.

Heat grill on high for 5-10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and gently place patties over direct heat. Close the grill and walk away for 7 minutes. Refrain from checking before the time is up, and do not press the patties with a spatula unless you enjoy eating hockey pucks.

Flip the patties and top with your choice of cheese.

Grill for another 5-7 minutes.
